About Us

The Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Philadelphia meet in Gothic Hall of the Masonic Temple, One North Broad Street, Philadelphia PA.  The Valley of Philadelphia consists of the four Bodies of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction:  Philadelphia Lodge of Perfection, 14° (4° -14°), DeJoinville Council  Princes of Jerusalem, 16° (15° & 16°), Kilwinning Chapter of Rose Croix, 18° (17° & 18°), and Benjamin Franklin Consistory, 32° (19° - 32°)

Our Office

Our Valley Office is located on the third floor of the Masonic Temple. Our office is staffed virtually on a part-time basis.  Please leave a message on the office phone or email, and you will be contacted in a timely fashion.

The Bodies of the Scottish Rite sitting in the Valley of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, acknowledge and yield allegiance to the Supreme Council, Thirty-third Degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America, whose Grand East is in Lexington, Massachusetts of which the Illustrious David A. Glattly, 33° is the Sovereign Grand Commander

Becoming a Member

The Valley of Philadelphia welcomes all Philadelphia region Master Masons to petition our Valley for Degrees and Membership.


The requisite qualifications for the Scottish Rite Degrees are; that the petitioner shall be an affiliated Master Mason in good standing. His symbolic Lodge membership does not have to be in Pennsylvania, although it must be in a Jurisdiction in Fraternal Amity with the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, Free and Accepted Masons.

Scottish Rite Degrees provide a better understanding of the meaning of Freemasonry and its basic principles through the use of drama. The Degrees emphasize time-tested moral lessons and virtues, which make man worthwhile and the world a better place to live. The teachings of the Scottish Rite are based upon truths which have been studied through the ages by Masonic characters and leaders. The Rite is willing to share its knowledge with those Brethren who become members of the Valley.
